Makeup Breakdown: Oscars 2018 featuring Jennifer Garner & Nicole Kidman

There were two standouts last night at the Oscars and they both wore gorgeous shades of blue. Seriously, gorgeous blue gowns. Both very different styles and fabrics but Garner and Kidman looked radiant! And, of course their makeup was natural but glam. Both Garner and Kidman are Neutrogena Brand Ambassadors therefore it only makes sense that their makeup would be Neutrogena. Unfortunately, Neutrogena cosmetics are not sold in Canada however I wanted to highlight their makeup looks because I wanted to showcase drugstore makeup can be as glam as high-end.

The stunning, Jennifer Garner wore a Versace gown. Her makeup was by makeup artist, Genevieve Herr. Herr wanted to create a balanced makeup look with a focus on the eyes.

Prep the skin with NEUTROGENA® Rapid Wrinkle Repair® Regenerating Cream. This is a very important step before makeup application to have the skin moisturized and smooth, and this cream is amazing for this purpose! Jennifer’s eyes are the focus of this makeup look. I lined her eyes to define them for a classic look using NEUTROGENA® Nourishing Eye Liner in Cosmic Black. I used the Smoky Steel NEUTROGENA® Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow Palette as the makeup came together. Next, Nicole Kidman wore a strapless Armani Prive gown. Stunning! Loved everything about the dress...the fabric and the big bow in the front were flawless. As was the makeup by makeup artist, Angela Levin. Kidman actually took to social media to show her transformation from makeup free to the final glam look.

For the skin prep, I always like to start with a great mask to really set the tone. I used the new NEUTROGENA® Hydro Boost Hydrating Hydrogel Mask; remember, good skin prep gives longevity to your makeup. After that, I blotted the face with a tissue to remove any excess surface moisturizer and used a small amount of NEUTROGENA® Rapid Wrinkle Repair® Regenerating Creamprior to starting makeup. I used a thin brush to line Nicole’s lip and then a translucent powder to set it prior to using the NEUTROGENA® MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Classic Red several times to bring out the colour. Then, I rubbed some of the colour on the back of my hand and tapped it on her cheek bones to connect the lip with the cheek. I always feel like the eyebrows are a very important part of Nicole’s overall look. First, I brushed the hair making sure to remove all excess foundation or power that may have been on the brow. Then I drew in the shade with the NEUTROGENA® Nourishing Brow Pencil in Blonde until I was satisfied and brushed the hair again until they were positioned to my liking.
