out with the old: skincare

Every season I modify my skincare routine to suit the climate. Obviously, with a few tweaks here and there when I am testing out new skincare products. But for the most part I try to stick with one routine.  Ever since my pregnancy and now as a new mom I have really streamlined my routine. I wanted a more natural approach to what I was putting on my skin and cut out BHA's and AHA's. However, I do find that my skin needs exfoliation on a regular basis to get rid of clogged pores. More on that later...in other post about my new skincare routine.
Out with the Old! All of the above is what I basically stuck to for the most part in the Fall/Winter seasons.
Cleansers:
Alaffia African Black Soap (in Tangerine)- Love this cleanser! Can also be used on the whole body but I used it primarily as my evening cleanser. Washes off all my makeup including eye makeup. I actually used up the whole bottle (which is rare as I get bored with products). Leaves skin clean but without the dryness and tightness of other cleansers. $9 (Whole Foods)
Skinceuticals Gentle Cleanser-fantastic gentle creamy cleanser. I prefer this as my morning cleanser as it doesn't completely remove your makeup therefore for my morning routine it's perfect. Very gentle and non-irritating. Especially great for those with problem skin or sensitivity. $40
Consonant Skincare HydrExtreme- I've raved about this serum before and I still love it. It's amazing for those with drier skintypes (as my skin is drier in Fall/Winter). This past Winter I'd layer this with a moisturizer for extra hydration. For Summer I can get away with it on its own. 100% natural! $72
L'Occitane Immortelle Divine Cream-I give credit to Sidonie, contributor here at beautyparler.ca! She gifted me this amazing cream for Christmas. I'm not fond of the scent but this buttery cream saved my skin this past frigid Winter. Amazingly moisturizing but without the heavy feel. Left skin looking dewy in an otherwise gloomy cold Winter. Too heavy for me in the warmer months but would definitely repurchase come Fall/Winter. $114
Neutrogena All-in-One Cleansing wipes-I always have cleansing wipes on hand. So easy and handy to have around. From cleaning up makeup mistakes or/and as a pre-cleanse. $8
