Summer Melt-Down 2013: part 1{skincare}

SUmmer melt-down: SOS

So far this Summer has been a scorcher! The heat-wave in Toronto is in full effect and being pregnant adds to the body heat. Yikes! But stay cool indoors and with the right skincare products your face can survive the melt-down. Also, drink lots of water!!
I haven't included sunscreens here as I will be writing a separate post on my current faves. For past sunscreen favourites, here. With the heat and humidity I also prefer not to layer too many products. If I'm using a foundation with sunscreen then I will use a moisturizer without. However, if I'm planning an outdoor day then I will use a sunscreen as my base moisturizer and no foundation.

LUSH Tea Tree Water Toner
I rave about this toner every Summer & with good reason. It's my go-to toner for Summer! It feels fresh, no-alcohol therefore non-drying and contains anti-bacterial ingredients such as; tea tree, juniperberry, and grapefruit.
$9.95 cdn for 100ml

SkinCeuticals Redness Neutralizer
Although this product is created to target redness for those that suffer from rosacea I love it for Summer. It states it has a cooling effect but very slight (if any) on my skin. I love it because its light-weight, doesn't feel like I have anything on my skin and in general my skin has improved. I get no clogged pores with this product.
$78 cdn for 50 ml

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit scrub
I was hesitant to use any products that contains 2% salicylic acid because I am pregnant. However, as this is not a leave-on treatment safe enough to use. Thankfully, I tried this as I was starting to get clogged pores due to sweaty face (yes, it's that hot). This does not dry out my skin nor is it abrasive for a scrub. I use this in the morning only & not at night as a makeup remover.
$8 (varies from store)
Vichy ProEVEN Eyes
A light-weight eye lotion that soothes eye area. Haven't noticed a significant change in dark under eye circles but my eyes don't get puffy (considering the rest of my pregnant body is swollen). I like to put this in the fridge and apply cool, feels amazing in the Summer. Contains; caffeine (to help with puffiness), vitamin Cg and B3 + Ceramide Bright, LHA, and liquorice extract.
$39.50 cdn
