Orange: hottest new colour at NYFW {makeup S/S 2014}

Orange is the new colour trend for Spring/Summer 2014! The vibrant shade has been seen on nails and lips but are you daring enough to wear it. Just like trying to find that right shade of red for your complexion orange can also be a hard shade to wear. Thankfully there are many variations and if all else fails orange nails look good on anyone.

DKNY S/S 2014
DKNY celebrates 25 years! Designer Donna Karan brought the 1990's with a street-inspired collection featuring pops of orange. Which also included a bold orange lip using Maybelline New York Color Sensational the Vivids in shade Electric Orange topped off with Color Sensational shade in On Fire Red.

Rag & Bone S/S 2014
Backstage at Rag & Bone, Revlon's Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman pulled out the orange lip!
“This look focuses on textures with a matte lip and luminous skin, but it's not about being sweet; she's still a cool rag & bone girl,” says Westman. “This is the first time rag & bone has ever done a lip look like this. We decided to go with a bold lip because it fit so well with the clothes this season. There is a lot of shine to the collection, as well as pastels, so I really wanted the lip to pop. The lip colour was inspired by the World Cup in Brazil and the eye look was inspired by what your eyes might look like the morning after going to bed with your makeup on.” -Gucci Westman

  1. WOAH -- Karlie Kloss in that orange lipstick is surprisingly gorgeous! I would never guess I'd be so taken with the idea, but I might need to try some orange shades! :D

  2. Orange lips are hard for me, not so much because of my skin, which is very pale, but because it brings out icky tones on my not-as-white-as-they used-to-be teeth.

    Orange eyeshadow is good for my blue eyes, though!
